Don’t Compromise With the World

We Are To Be The Temple of the Living God

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them,
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17  Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,
18 and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”

7 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

It seems to me that what’s missing from today’s Church in America is the fear of The Almighty. Our pastors are lulling us into the false sense of God as our Genie in a bottle that is here to serve us. We hear the prosperity gospel, the feel good gospel, the God wants you to be happy gospel, the it’s OK to sin because we’re covered by God’s grace gospel, the once saved always saved so live like you want gospel, and many more heresies. Not one of the New Testament writers said anything of the sort. Much to the contrary, they proclaimed holiness and preached against sin. We are warned that in the last days people won’t want to hear the truth and will seek out people who will tell them what they want to hear instead. I’d say that time is definitely here.

There is such a backlash against speaking out about any kind of sin, that even the mildest rebuke can cause an uproar on social media. Church attendance is declining at a rapid rate. People would much rather do just about anything other than go to church on a Sunday. We’ve become not just a GodLESS society, but a God HATING society. Then people wonder why bad things are happening all around us AND they want to BLAME God for it. The Church as a body of believers needs to stand up, and stand OUT from the crowds. The power to overcome addictions, sins, receive healing, restoration and more are all benefits of the power of God. Yet the church today is denying it exists. God is calling us back to him, seeking to have us live out the life we’re supposed to, holy and blameless so that we can be spirit filled to show the rest of the world the power of Christ.
